Note: He joined the Confederate Army with his brother Benjamin October 4, 1862to Captain John T Bl and at little Birch, Virginia. George and Benjaminand the contingent from Braxton County wer e ordered to Sinking Creek inGreenbriar, West Virginia. On the morning of November 26, 186 2 twogroups of Union Troops marched over Cold Knob in Greenbriar to theConfederate emcampme nt. 475 men of the 2nd West Virginia Calvery underColonel John C Paxton and 500 men of the 1 1th Ohio Infantry underColonal Philander P Lane converged on the Camp. George was wounded i nthe Raid on Sinking Creek and developed Gangrene. He later died.
