William E. "Windy" Kazee, 98, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland. He was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Boyd County, son of the late Santford and Edna Stuart Kazee. He was a retired clerk at C&O Railroad. He attended First Baptist Church of Ashland, was a member of the Elks BPOE 350, was a 69-year member of the Brotherhood of Railyway Clerks and a member of Bellefonte County Club.
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his wives, Mary Margaret Moore Kazee and Sue Blankenship McCloskey Kazee; and four sisters, Ruth Allender, Ella Mae Skaggs, Alberta Holbrook and Peggy Ann Kazee.
Survivors include a son, Bill Kazee and his wife Danielle of Novato, Calif.; a daughter, Anna Margaret McClanahan and husband Kenneth Albert McClanahan of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Kenny Kusch, Karen Battin, Kathy Scott and Derek Kazee; and six great-grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Blagg, Kellen, Keaton and Kristin Scott and Luke Kazee.
Funeral services wll be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Charles Stewart. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. An Elks Lodge service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
