My Jesse line is also through KY/VA. My gggg-grandfather was Richard JESSE who married Francis CHOWNING. Their family moved to Woodford Co., KY before 1800, then moved to Clay Co., MO ca 1839.
I believe that Samuel and Richard were very closely related, perhaps brothers, however, I have no proof in finding more about Richard.
My line is Richard JESSE >> Woodford Fox JESSE >> John Lawrence JESSE
Emma Sarah JESSE (married Lewis Earl ASHER) >> Virginia Louise ASHER

John Lawrence JESSE married a Grindstaff and was believed to have lived in KS for a while during the Civil War. John Lawrence rode with Bloody Bill Anderson.
I would be happy to share information with anyone interested in this line. Some of the later dates and names on the Jessee website are incomplete/inaccurate.
