    "John Heald, Yeoman, Friend, from Chesire, England in 1703 settled upon a farm in Kennett. d 1741/42. Buried "Old" Kennett MH. m Martha Foden d. Bradford Twp, Chester County 1755 wife of Richard Woodward m. 9/30/1743." Harlan Family History.

    Middletown Ferry. Midway between Lancaster and Carlisle. Many Quakers crossedc river at this place. Site of Shawanese Indian village. Thomas Hall, John McFesson, Joseph Bennett, John Heald ... from Kennett crossed susquehanna from mouth of Swatara and selected lands on west side of river in 1734.
