        RALEIGH? Sara Scott Gwyn White died on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004.


        Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, with interment in Raleigh Memorial Park.


        Born in Charlotte on Feb. 9, 1926, she was the daughter of Bessie Morefield and James Byron Gwyn.


        She graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and attended the Womans College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.


        Sara married Paul B. White on Nov. 30, 1963. Following their marriage, they moved to Raleigh. Sara loved horseback riding, as well as tennis and golf. She and Paul spent many happy hours boating on local lakes and the inland waterway with their sons.


        During her life, Sara developed a keen interest in volunteer activities including Meals on Wheels, the Farm Workers Ministry, the P.T.A., the Episcopal Church Women and teaching in the Sunday school at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.


        In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons, Paul and wife Susan of Durham and Scott and wife Hope and their son, James of Pittsboro; twin sister, Dorothy Cude and sister Frances Hartman of Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James B. Gwyn, of Hattiesburg, Miss.


        Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave.
