   Note: I THINK his father was JONAS MARKEL who was in Green Twp., Ross Co., OH in 1820 and then in Pickaway Co., OH in 1830, the year of Samuel D.'s birth (Pickaway was created in 1810 from a portion of Ross Co. and others). They probably didn't even move--only the county lines changed. Also, every subsequent census record (from 1850 through 1900) consistently, without exception, indicates that Samuel D. was born in OH.
   
   By 1840, the family was in Wayne Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN, with Jonas listed as HOH. By 1850, the family was still in Wayne Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN, but without Jonas who had apparently died before that time as Hannah was listed as HOH with her now-named children who were still in the nest: Daniel 30, Samuel 21, James 18, Isabel 16, and Hannah 10.
