Mary Jane Cooke LeVan was somewhat of an authority on local history and was a frequent contributor to "Now and Then". She has the old commissions and other records of Col Jacob Cooke (her grandfather) (as of 1911) per note in WFT 2933, Vol 7.

Mary was born in 1831 and probably died around 1900.
