    BIOGRAPHY:
Conrad was born on July 4, 1791 in Dauphin Co, PA. He is the third of several sons born to Jacob Beck and Maria Werner. Conrad married Barbara Leyder in 1814 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. They had 9 children.

He apparently Served in the War of 1812 with brother Jacob.
We found Conrad in several census 1820 to 1850 all in either Lower Paxton or Harrisburg, Dauphin Co, PA. On Dec 18, 1866 he died in Berrien MI.

    (from Gloria Hall, Michigan)
Conrad Peck is the son of Jacob Beck. Conrad was the only one to use the name Peck. They were in a heavy German community, though I am not certain if they were German themselves, and the 'B' and 'P' were sometimes interchanged.
Conrad is kind of interesting. He is noted in one of the books there to be the keeper of the toll road and people hated to have to stop there. He is also noted as being an 'eccentric genius'.
Conrad and Frederick were the two children by the widow, Maria Werner. She and Jacob both had children by former spouses. There is a daughter, Barbara, that is unclear if she is from Jacob's first or second wife.

"Here is the toll gate, which we would pass in silence were it not that the spot had been rendered classic by the long residence of Conrad Peck, an eccentric genius who for many years was considered indispensable to the neighborhood. He was not only singing master of vicinage, but was a finished mechanic - could make or mend anything. Like most gifted men, Mr. Peck had a violent temper, which sometimes carried him to extremes, more or less amusing to the neighbors. The place has seemed tame since his departure. In his old age he went to Michigan and shortly afterwards died."

..Jonestown road... for the further accommodation of traveler, Polly Shank..was the first keeper of the tollgate on the turnpike road. Cakes and beer were also sold at a later day by Conrad Peck, an eccentric genius, who for many years collected the toll at the upper gate, near Bigger's tavern.

Text: I believe it was Berrien Center cemetery. He is buried with the other daughter (Maria), not the Elizabeth Becker he lived with. I cannot give you exact directions to the grave, but it was not a really big cemetery. Gloria Hall
