    BIOGRAPHY:
Theodore Manwarring is the seventh of eight children born to Andrew J and Catherine Armstrong. He was born in 1867 in Tuckerman, Jackson, AR. The Manwarring's were early pioneers in Missouri and later moved to Arkansas after the Civil War.
In 1895 Theodore married Melita Kellam at age 28 in Muskogee, Indian Territory and shortly after daughters Silver and Grace were born. Wife Melita was part Indian and a descendent from the famous Weatherford line in Alabama. In 1899 Melita and the girls were recorded as Creek Indians on the Dawes' Rolls. In 1902 each received a grant from Congress of 160 acres of land Okfuskee county in the Indian Territory.
He was primarily a farmer but did also ride the pony express. From The History of Okfuskee/Haydonville Community we have: "The mail was carried out of Okemah by horseback riders with government mail bags in front and back of the saddles. Some of the first pony express riders were: Theo Manwarring, Jim Day and Quim Wheeler. They usually carried a six-gun on their hips or a rifle on their saddles. "
In 1907 they lived in Okfuskee on road from Morse from Tuskegee; corner of road Okfuskee to Hwy 48. They moved from log house to a new white house, just 50 feet away.
Theodore seems to have done lots of land dealings with various Indians such as:
1906 - Inherited 160 ac from friend Mary Augusta Tabor, Dallas TX
1909 - Deed, 160 ac from Indian Sarforcher Deer
1910 - Deed, 160 ac from Indian Tagie Fixico
1912 - Buy Okfuskee, quarter section
1915 - Deed, 160 ac in Torrance Co, New Mexico
1916 - Promissory note Estancia, Torrance, NM
In 1918 Theodore moved to Santa Cruz, CA following his daughters west. In 1919 they bought land on McIntyre Rd, Santa Cruz and started a chicken ranch. In 1920 Theodore died in Santa Cruz, CA and is buried in a family plot at the IOOF Cemetery in Santa Cruz.

BIRTH: Nov 16, 1867. Family history and death certif. Silver's bible says Nov 5th, vers Nov 16 on death certificate. Death certifcate says he was born in Arkansas.

DEATH: June 23, 1920 - Certif Santa Cruz, CA. #94, and obituary copy with Jared. Silver's bible says April 16, 1920 (she probably confused the date with her mother's death).

BURIAL: IOOF Cem Santa Cruz, N block, Love Ave. #63, 64, 65 or 66.

A trading post was opened by Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harman, and another by the Collins family. The mail was carried out of Okemah by horseback riders with government mail bags in front and back of the saddles. Some of the first pony express riders were: Theo Manwarring, Jim Day and Quim Wheeler. They usually carried a six-gun on their hips or a rifle on their saddles.
