    From John Luft - Hattie and Martha were twins. One was gored by a bull. The other graduated from the State Teachers College in Greely and became school teacher.

    Martha F. Larsen, 99 Ex-area resident taught many years in one-room schools
    Martha F. Larsen, 99, former Brush and Woodrow resident, died Sunday at
    the Hospice Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
    Mrs. Larsen was born Oct. 26, 1906, in Denver to Conrad and Henrietta
    Lebsack. She grew up on the family farm east of Berthoud and graduated
    from Berthoud High School. In 1931, she received a Life Certificate from
    Colorado State Teachers College, now known as the University of Northern
    Colorado, in Greeley, to teach intermediate grades in Colorado. She
    taught school for many years in one-room schools, teaching grades one
    through eight. She taught school in Loveland, Fort Collins and Woodrow.
    She married Leonard H. Larsen of Woodrow Aug. 26, 1933. After retiring
    from teaching, Mrs. Larsen was a homemaker, traveled extensively all
    over the world, visiting all continents, including the Holy Land. After
    the death her husband April 27, 1974, she moved to Loveland in 1975 to
    be closer to family.
    Mrs. Larsen volunteered at McKee Medical Center for a number of years
    and was a member of the McKee Hospital Auxiliary. She was a sports fan,
    enjoying football and baseball. She enjoyed her home, her yard and
    especially tending her flowers, roses always being her favorite.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Con, Fred, Jake,
    Carl, Adolph, John C. and Sam C. Lebsack; her sisters, Mary Wietzel,
    Lena Stroh, Elizabeth Stroh, Frieda Deines, Dolly Walters, Evangeline
    Gettman, Leah Deines, Ester Hoffman and her twin sister, Henrietta Vandever.
    Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush Friday from 9 a.m.-noon.
    Funeral services will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 222 Cameron St. in
    Brush, Friday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial
    Cemetery.
    Memorial gifts may be given to the Hospice of Larimer County c/o Heer
    Mortuary.
    The Heer Mortuary of Brush is in charge of the arrangements.

    She was born Oct. 26, 1906, in Denver to Conrad and Henrietta Eckhardt Lebsack. She grew up on the family farm east of Berthoud. She graduated from Berthoud High School in 1931, and received a life certificate from Colorado State Teacher?s College in Greeley to teach intermediate grades in the state of Colorado. She taught school for many years in one-room schools, teaching grades one through eight. She taught school in Loveland, Fort Collins and Woodrow.
    She married Leonard H. Larsen of Woodrow. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1974. She lived in Loveland for the past 30 years.
    She was a homemaker after retiring from teaching. She traveled extensively all over the world, visiting all continents including the Holy Land. She also volunteered at McKee Medical Center for a number of years and was a member of the McKee Hospital Auxiliary.
    She was a sports fan, enjoying football and baseball. She enjoyed her home, her yard and tending her flowers, roses always being her favorite. She touched many lives. She had no children of her own but loved all children.
    She was the only surviving child of a family of 17 children. She was preceded in death by brothers Con, Fred, Jake, Carl, Adolph, John C. and Sam C. Lebsack; sisters, Mary Wietzel, Lena Stroh, Elizabeth Stroh, Frieda Deines, Dolly Walters, Evangeline Gettman, Leah Deines, Esther Hoffman, and her twin sister, Henrietta Vandever.
    She is survived by many nieces and nephews including nieces Johna Diekman and husband Jack, and Florine Horst and husband Elmer of Loveland.
    Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron St., Brush. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to noon Friday, prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Brush Memorial Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525 or charity of choice.
