* * * * * * SUSSEX INDEPENDENT Friday, May 23, 1902 Nicolas Cox, one of the oldest and best known farmer residents, died at his home in North Wantage, on Monday evening, after a protracted illness. Mr. Cox had been in failing health for about a year , and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Cox was born on a farm near this town, now occupied by Charles Martin, just across the line in Hardyston. He was one of a large family, and was well known and highly esteemed throughout the northern part of the county. He has always followed the vocation of a farmer, and his home and farm near Unionville bear evidence of his thrift and success, being one of the best in Wantage township. In early life he married Charlotte Dunn, sister of the late Oscar Dunn, of this township, by whom he is survived, together with two daughters: Mrs. Albert VanFleet, of Unionville, and Emily, at home. He is also survived by two brothers, James and William both residing in this town , and who are perhaps the oldest men in this section of the county. The funeral was held at the house today (Thursday) at 2 p.m., and was largely attended. Interment at Unionville.
