Book F, Page 129: North Carolina, Pitt County: To all to who these presents shall come greeting know ye that I John Haddock Senr. of the County of Pitt in the in the Province of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds of the county and province aforesaid planter before the signing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith full satisfied contented and paid in every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit and discharge the said Zachariah Haddock his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever by these presents have given granted bargained sold alien confirm unto the above said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns forever one messuage or tract of land lying and being in the County of Pitt and Province aforesaid on the south side of Swift Creek beginning at the south of Gatherings Branch and running up to the back line with the winds of the said branch then to the head of Etenes Branch and running to the mouth of the said branch with the winds and turns of the said ranch and then running tot he other back line for the compliment containing one hundred acres more or less. It being part of a tract of land granted to John Wain as by patent bearing date 4th July one thousand seven hundred and fifty two and by John Wain sold to John Haddock Senr. from John Haddock Senr. to Zachariah Haddock it containing 100 acres of land more or less. Fully appears to have and to hold the above bargained premisses with all lands woods waters mines houses gardens orchards fences and all manner of privileges belonging to the said bargained premises with all the appurtenances privileges to the same belonging or in any wise pertaining to him the said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns forever to his or their proper use benefits and behoof forever and I the said John Haddock Senr. for myself my heirs executors and administrators do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns that before the in sealing and delivering of these presents I am the the true sole and lawful owner of the above bargained and premises and lawful and possessor of the same in my own proper title proven and lawfully authority to grant bargain sell convey and confirm the said bargained his heirs and assigns shall and may have from time to time and at lawfully peaceably and quietly have sole the occupancy possess and enjoy this said demised bargained premisses with the appurtenances free and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged from all manner of former gifts grants bargains or sales lease mortgages wills entails joiners judgements execution encumbrances and claims further I the said John Haddock for myself my heirs executors to him the said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim or demand of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrant and defined in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 14th day of Nov 1774. Book P, Page 145, Pitt County, NC. This Indenture made this third day of May one thousand eight hundred and two between John Haddock of Pitt County and the State of North Carolina of the one part and Zachariah Haddock of the County and state above mentioned of the other part witnesseth that the said John Haddock for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds currency paid to him in hand the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold a certain tract of land containing one hundred acres more or less beginning at a gum tree in the middle of the Cow Swamp running with the branch by the name of Merins Branch to Moses Moores line then with his line to the corner then with his line to the branch then in his line round the Cow Swamp then down the middle of the Cow swamp to the beginning it is part of the two pattents on of John Simpson and Peter Albritton deceased also another patent beginning at a cypress tree in the Round Pocopsom and running south 127 poles to a pine then east a cypress then west 127 poles to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or less to have and hold the said tracts of land unto Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Haddock for himself his heirs and assign doth promise and agree only I preserve my life in the land to feed and raise stock and cut timbers and with said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns against the claims and demands of any all persons whatsoever in Witness whereof the said John Haddock hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written sealed and delivered in presence of ...
