    Thutmose IV, king of Egypt (1401-1391 bc) of the 18th Dynasty, son of Amenhotep II, and grandson of Thutmose III. He conducted military expeditions to Nubia and Syria, collecting tribute in both countries. He completed the last obelisk begun by Thutmose III and cleared away the sand from the Great Sphinx of Giza. Thutmose IV negotiated alliances with Babylonia and with Mitanni and married the daughter of Artatama, king of Mitanni.
