From Stillwater NewsPress online obituaries, 21 Aug 99: "AMARILLO, Texas - James Edward Bullock, 92, opened Bullock Service Station at 113 W. Eighth in Stillwater with his father in 1927 and operated it in the same location for 48 years. He was born in Payne County and lived in Stillwater until March 1994, when he moved to Amarillo to be near his son.
He died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in Bivins Nursing Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Strode Chapel with the Rev. Virgle Calvert officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home, 610 S. Duncan, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Bullock was born Nov. 13, 1906, in Payne County to Edward J. and Eloise (Bras) Bullock. He attended school in Stillwater, graduating from Stillwater High School and going on to Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University. He married Helen Mary Hassebroek on Aug. 20, 1933, in Mooreland. She died Sept. 26, 1983.
Bullock was a member of the Stillwater Evening Kiwanis Club for many years and had more than 30 years of perfect attendance. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stillwater, where he was a deacon.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Claude A. (Nell) Bradshaw.
He is survived by two sons, James D. "Jim" Bullock of Amarillo and Wayne E. Bullock of Hominy; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Margaret A.) Chapman of Williamsport, Pa.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lyall (Lois) Halsted of Enid and Mrs. R.A. (Ruth) Ward of Stillwater."
