** Peter Riker's sons seem to move between what is now Jefferson
County, Morris County and Sussex County.There is suggestion that he is a
so n of Johannes Riker and a grandson of Peter Riker and Marytje Messec ar
of Sta ten Island, NY. This is based on the fact that there is an earl y
inventory f or an Elizabeth Riker oin Sussex and mention of her daughte r,
Elizabeth. Th is suggests that old Elizabeth was Elizabeth Hees, secon d
wife of Johannes Ri ker. Johannes and Elizabeth Hees did have a daught er,
Elizabeth. This may be an explanation...not fact yet.
Peter Riker is also connected to Abraham Messe ker. They bought propert y
next to each other in Sussex in the 1700's. In the 1793 " census"
Riker/ Messeker men in these families seemed to be paired : Matthew
Massiker and John Riker in Pequannock; Jeremiah and Jacob Riker and Joh n
Masseker in Vernon, Sussex ( Cornelis was probably born after 1774 so n o t
listed); The above Rikers have a number of Sussex and Morris deeds.**

Regarding spo uses listed...this is not absolute, it is an educated gue ss
based uopn the ti me frames of Peter's birth. Carol Spoor
(junebird3@yahoo.com) has Peter list ed being born in 1727, which is ab out
the time I estimate for my Peter. SHe also lists the same children's
names, although Peter is listed as having no i ssue according to some
researchers, I am convinced that this is the line I ne ed to trace, and i t
seems as though our line was unknown until I started putt ing the puzzl e
together from all the family tidbits and info I have found via th
internet. As of July 15, 2002, I am not sure which if any of the wives
had the children listed, so they are all attatched to both of them.
