  • ID: I688
  • Name: Josceline DE LOUVAINE of Petworth 1
  • Sex: M
  • Change Date: 17 NOV 2012
  • Note:
Josceline's maternity is uncertain, but he is considered not to have been the son of his father's wife Ida. He could have been the son of either Ida or Clemence; the evidence that he may have been illegitimate is insubstantial. He was the half-brother of Adeliza de Louvaine, the widowed second wife of King Henry I, who thought that Agnes de Percy was a suitable match for him.
It is thought that he assumed the name of Percy, but he there is no evidence that he known by it during his lifetime. 1
