Phyllis and Courtney Ogg spent the majority of their li ves in Ottawa, KS. They did move to Oregon for a short period of time in 1918 to have a chicken ranch . They pulled a trailer with their belongings over the mountains from Kansas t o Eugene, OR. This trip took nearly 6 months in a 4 door Maxwell. They arrived in the fall and after several months of terribly rainy weather they sold their belong ings to get train tickets back to Kansas.
They raised two fine boys, James Boicourt Ogg and Howard Courtney Ogg. Courtney managed a grocery store and Phyllis kept the home and farm. Ove r the years, they raised sheep, cattle, chickens, ducks, and guinea hens at th e farm. Many of their farm products found their way to their grocery store. Court ney was a very personable retailer, he enjoyed his customers! Phyllis worked har d to help with the eggs, milk, and butter as well as garden products!
