    Mrs. Clara J. Denning, of Smithfield, formerly of Buies Creek, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Prospect Free Will Baptist Chapel in Harnett County by the Rev. Phillip Davis. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.

    Mrs. Denning is survived by a daughter, Linda Barefoot of Smithfield; a sister, Hautense J. Ennis of Coats; and two grandchildren.

    The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Skinner Funeral Home in Dunn.
