ERWIN -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carter, 89, of Erwin died Friday. A graveside service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Westview Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Ronnie Byrd.

Mrs. Carter is survived by three daughters, Bessie O. Chapman of Erwin, Delphia L. Bowling of Dunn and Mary D. ''Dixie'' Gainey of Lillington; a brother, Lacoma Adams of Angier; a sister, Leatha McLean of Willow Springs; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington.
