Barbara Weir Parrish, age 73, of Wilson?s Mills, died Thursday. Born in Columbus County on Sept. 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Helen Geyer Weir. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Carl K. Parrish, Jr..

Barbara was an active member of the Wilson?s Mills Christian Disciples Church serving as church organist for over 40 years. She retired from the Johnston County School System after teaching for over 30 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Wilson?s Mills Christian Disciples Church with burial following in the Wilson?s Mills Cemetery. Rev. Lea Slaton will officiate and serving as pallbearers will be Billy Creech, Pete Holian, Steve Johnson, Kent Edwards, Robert Ormond, Robert Peedin. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Uzzle, Rep. Billy Creech, Kenny Jones, and Jim Uzzle.

Surviving are: her husband, Luther C. Davis; son, Carl K. Parrish, III of Silver Springs, MD; daughters, Helen Braswell and husband Vance of Wilson?s Mills and Kay Parrish of Pine Level; a sister, Sandra Baldwin and husband Jim of Missouri; grandchildren, Alexander Strother, Blake Strother, Lauren Parrish, Nicholas Davis, and Katilin Davis; and great grandchildren, Aiden Strother, Nathan Strother, and Lona Parrish.

The family will receive friends at the residence located at 608 Main St. in Wilson?s Mills Tuesday night from 6 to 8 PM. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Wilson?s Mills Christian Church, P.O. Box 247, Wilson?s Mills, NC 27593.
