FROM AN OBITUARY IN THE ?PRIMITIVE BAPTIST,? WRITTEN BY HIS WIFE:

Elder Clifton was born October 6, 1885 and departed this life on July 25, 1956. He was married to Melissia Honeycutt on August 2, 1908. To this union six children were born. His wife passed away July 23, 1928. In 1929, he married Elizabeth Byrd. To this union four children were born.

Brother Clifton joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Coats, N. C., in October 1923. Some years later, he was ordained as a minister. He was unable to fill his appointments for several years before he passed away. For a few years, he prayed to live and get well, but in his last days he said that he was ready to meet his Saviour.
