Carl Edwin Lucas, 72, of Erwin died Monday in Good Hope Hospital. He operated Carl's Supermarket for 42 years and Carl's Supermarket in Dunn for 28 years. Mr. Lucas operated Carl's Sundries and Carl's Restaurant. He was a member of Civil Defense Air Patrol of Harnett County and the Sheriff's Association of Harnett County. Mr. Lucas was a fire marshal for Harnett County. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Neill S. Stewart Lodge No. 556 and the Sudan Shrine Association. Mr. Lucas was a deacon in First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Jerry Hicks, Thurman B. Stone and Jerome Pope. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Letty H. Lucas of the home; a daughter, Ruth Morgan of Erwin; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Erwin.
