James Lenwood Tutor, 81, of Monroe died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Hospice House II in Monroe. He was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Harnett County to the late James Braxton Tutor and Mary Caroline Partin Tutor. He retired from the Town of Angier Maintenance Department. Mr. Tutor was preceded in death by his wife, Marvalee Benson Tutor. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. March 11 at Kennebec Baptist Church in Angier by the Revs. Mark Howard, James Aycock and Phil McLean. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria McLean and husband the Rev. Phil McLean of Monroe; a grandchild, Lynn McLean and wife Martha of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Nathanael McLean and Daniel McLean, both of Monroe; brothers, Charles Carvelle Tutor of Hartford, Ala., Emitte Tutor and Jimmy Tutor, both of Fuquay-Varina; and sisters, Eva Belle Parrish and Ola Peed, both of Angier.
