Mr. Charles Ravon Ennis, 71, of 1117 Lincoln Street, died Wednesday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Coats Baptist Church. Rev. Jesse Mooney, Rev. A. Howard Beard, Dr. Mark T. White, Rev. Jim Cashwell, and Rev. Keith Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens, Dunn.
Mr. Ennis was born November 4 1928 in Harnett County to the late M.E. and Minnie Lee Ennis. He retired with the Harnett County Correctional Department and was a farmer. Mr. Ennis served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Coats Baptist Church where he served as deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir for 40 years. Mr. Ennis was very active in community affairs and was named Coats Farmer of the Year.
Survivors include: wife, Rachel Stephenson Ennis; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Turlington of Coats; sisters, Edna E. Ennis of Coats, Sue E. Benner of Fayetteville; brothers, Earl Ennis of Coats, Shelton Ennis of Durham; grandsons, Chad Turlington and Brian Turlington; special family friend Stephen Norris.
Family will receive friends from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Coats.
