In the register at the old Huguenot Church in Basel, Switzerland is the re cord of his ordination on 19 Feb 1682, and also the baptism of his son Pie rre, Jr in 1675. He came to SC in 1686 with his wife and son and a colo ny of French Huguenots which landed in Beaufort, SC then moved farther nor th to Santee, St. James Parish, called French Santee to distinguish it fr om English Santee, St. Stephen's Parish. These were on the south side of S antee, about 60 miles above Charleston, SC. From time of landing in 1686 u ntil 1710, Pierre Robert was minister to the colony, and is supposed to ha ve been the first Huguenot minister in the whole of South Carolina.
Pierre Robert is the son of Daniel Robert and wife Marie Petremand (b:c164 5). Daniel and family first moved to France then to Switzerland about 16 50 to escape religious persecution. Daniel Robert was born Abt. 1630 ne ar Aberystwyth, Wales and died 1680 in Switzerland. He was the son of Will iam Robert (b:c1598) and unknown wife of Wales.
Pierre Robert was born in Switzerland after his family fled from Franc e. He was baptized and ordained a minister there as reflected in recor ds of the Huguenot Church in Basle. He came to the North American Carolina 's in 1686 with his wife and son.
1655 The Rev. Pierre Robert was baptized 30 Dec 1655.
1674 He graduated at St Etienne as a physican; attended the Universi ty of Basil, 1862 ordained on 19 Feb. 1682.
He was a pastor of a Waldensian church in the Piedmont Valley in Switzerla nd. It is claimed that the Waldenses were the ancestors of the present d ay Baptists.
1686 He immigrated to South Carolinia and served as the first minist er of the Huguenot (later the Anglican, now Episcopal) church at St. Jam es Parish, SC, continuing his ministry until prior to 1 Jan. 1710. He w as the first Huguenot minister in America. He was the first rector of S t. James Anglican Church, although it is unclear whether he was ordain ed as such since there was no Anglican Bishop in America at the time.

Pierre Robert arrived in South Carolinis in 1686 with Captain Philip Gendr on and settled in St. James Parish, on the Santee. He was the first Fren ch minister to preach in Carolinia and served until his death.
The first Huguenot church built in Charleston is still standing in a go od state of preservation at this day (1946) even though it is more than t wo centuries old. On one of its inner walls may be seen a tablet placed th ere by some of the descendants of Pierre Robert with this inscription (Pas teur Pierre Robert - French Santee, So. Carolinia - 1656 - 1715." )
