    GEORGE KEITH b: c1646 d: 16 September 1716, settled in North Frodingham
in the county of York, during the reign of King Charles II (ruled
1660-1685). George married a woman named ANN (she died 18 August 1717).

Their children include ELLEN, MARY, ELIZABETH, GEORGE (b:1666), ROBERT
    (b:1699) and THOMAS (b:1705).

This branch of the family comes from the original Scotch Earls Marischal,
through descent from a third son. This explains the crescent which
appears at the top of the center gold bar of the shield of the family
arms. Otherwise, the crest, motto and arms are identical with those of
    the Earls Marischal.

The family, as shown by records in the Parish of Fordingham, in the
county of Yorkshire, left Scotland soon after the fall of the Scottish
crown and settled in Yorkshire. Of this branch was the famous navigator
and tutor of English Royalty whose book "Keith on the Globe" was the
standard navigation work of the day, and copies of it are still in
    circulation in England.
