Went to Benton Co., IA in 1858. Living with uncle, John, in 1860. INMAN, ORVILLE, far., Sec. 15; P. O. Vinton; born in Delaware Co. , N. Y., April 24, 1837; came to this county in 1858. Has 200 acres of land, valued at $8,000. Married Henrietta McCormick in 1865; she was born in Lycoming Co., Penn., Aug. 8, 1841 ; mother of three children -- Martha, Ashley and Charlie. Emigrated from New York to Stephenson Co., Ill., in 1847; lived there eleven years, then came to this county. Enlisted in the 28th I. V. I., Co. A, as private, was promoted to Sergeant; wa s in the battles of Port Gibson, Champion Hills, siege of Vicksburg, Jackson, Miss., on the Red River Expedition, at Winchester at the time Little Phil. took his ride of twenty miles, and the last battle the regiment was in was at Cedar Creek.
