After his marriage he moved to Oelwein, IA, where he worked as a carpenter both on home construction and on the Chicago Great Western RR. In June 1919 he moved with his family , except for Levi, to Tomahawk, WI where he purchased a small farm. He also worked in the Tomahawk area as a carpenter until his retirement about 1946.
