Katherine Maxwell (cir 1638-1709)
Change Date: 3 DEC 2016
Understood to have had a descent from Robert the Bruce - but had an obvious royal ancestral descent via Maxwell surname.
Cousin of the Earl of Teviot, Andrew Rutherford (16??-1664)
Niece to Dr Alexander 'Longnez' Burnett of Glasgow (who may have trained George Elliott?)
Douglas Richardson describes Katherine as a cousin to Sarah Churchill nee Jennings, Duchess of Marlborough - however, it is difficult to see this, given Katherine's very obvious Scottish origins.
