Helyn C. (Lawless) Boutross, 73, passed away February 7, 2006, at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 10, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am., Saturday, at Prince of Peace Church, 16000 W. 143rd St., Olathe, KS 66062. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Prince of Peace Church, Olathe, KS; or Catholic Charities, 2220 Central, Kansas City, KS 66101. Helyn was born September 22, 1932, in Melrose, IA, to Gerald and Winifred (Sinclair) Lawless. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Boutross; her son, Tony Grasparovich; and two sisters, Mary Davis and Delores Scott. Helyn is survived by her daughter, Vicki Ronan of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Chris Ronan, Candice Baumgardner, Cary Ronan, Corey Ronan, Jonathan Gasparovich, Erik Gasparovich, Lauren Gasparovich; a great-granddaughter, Gwyneth Baumgardner; four brothers, Jerry, Ed, Bill and Bernard Lawless, all of Des Moines, IA; one sister, Bernadine Gasparovich of Olathe, KS; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Aunt Helyn was a remarkable woman who left a special place in my heart. The last time we spoke was at Melissa's service ( daughter of me and Monty ) and she said remarkable things to me that i will never forget. Her words of encouragement meant the world to me. My Aunt Helyn was a very special Aunt. She gave me a lifetime of special memories. From my earliest childhood memories of the 1960's, all the way until Christmas 2005, visiting my Aunt Helyn's house was always a special occasion in my life. Her home was always a warm, inviting place, and full of hospitality. She always seemed to welcome everyone. During my 15-month deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom, my Aunt Helyn was a tremendous source of support and inspiration. She frequently sent me letters, cards, phone cards, and "care" packages. I eagerly looked forward to every opportunity to call home and talk with her. The sound of her voice always made me feel better. When I arrived home to the Omaha National Guard Armory in April, 2004, my Aunt Helyn and Aunt Bernie were there to welcome me home. My Aunt Helyn had a wonderful sense of humor. The last time I spoke with her was on Janaury 21st when she called to tease me about the 96-54 beating that the KU Jayhawk basketball team gave my beloved Nebraska Huskers.
