    Hugh,

On the Ellis Island records: I think you already found Jørgen Otto
Strømsholt, my grandfather in line 24 of the manifest of the arrival of the
Hellig Olav on 20. April 1921. Anna Nielsen (sic) Hansen is on line 23, my
grandmother. Note they both show they are visiting Niels Peter Jørgensen
in Pilger, Nebraska, whom my grandmother correctly identifies as her
brother-in-law, since he is married to Pouline Hansen, her
sister. However, interestingly, Jørgen Otto puts down Niels Peter as his
"cousin" which is incorrect, the families are not related. Perhaps this is
to have an easier time with the immigration authorities, since they are not
yet married? Or perhaps it implies a familial relationship as a cover to
the then no doubt scandalous act of a young unmarried couple eloping to
    America together?
