Obituary: Robert Dean "Fuzzy" St. John, age 74, of Manhattan, died November 5, 2007, at his
residence following an extended illness.
He was born November 26, 1932, in Manhattan, the son of John and Helen E. (Woodside) St. John,
and had been a lifetime resident.
Bob graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1951. He served for four years in the
United States Air Force, seven years in the Air Force Reserve, and then nine years in the Army
National Guard. He worked as a supply clerk for the ammunition depot at Fort Riley, Federal Civil
Service, for 31 years. Bob then worked for several years as the office manager for Manhattan Motors,
worked for C & S Supply in the office and delivery person, prior to being a Para for five years for Manhattan Schools.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Bob served on the board that started the Manhattan Girls Softball League and was an umpire for
many years, he was an avid sports fan, and recycled everything that could be recycled.
On May 3, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City, he was married to Mary Ann Lussenhop.
Mary survives of the home. Additional survivors include three children: Karen Potts and her husband
Jack of Manhattan, Deana Campbell and her husband Mike of Junction City, and Robert St. John and
his wife Theresa of Salina; six grandchildren: Dustin and Brandon Potts, Ashley Campbell, Eric, Bryce
and Tyler St. John; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Potts; three sister-in-laws, Illene Bender, Almina Hughes
and Donna Motley; six nieces and nephews, Diana Kreps and her husband Howard, John St. John and his
wife Amy, Steven St John and his wife Deborah, Cindy St. John, Lisa Beck and her husband Greg and
Patrick St. John and his wife Gina and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two half brothers, Raymond A. St. John and John St. John and three
half sisters, Lorene St. John, Irene Doe and Leona Waller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the First Lutheran Church, 930 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan,
with Reverend Dr. Keith E. Wiens officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
