He and his family moved to White Co, Ar in 1892 and settled the area that became known as "Georgia Ridge". According to family stories, Hiram died of Infectious Hydrophobia (rabies). He was out bear hunting when one of his dogs got in a fight with a bear. Hiram saved the dog but the dog later went mad and bit him. It took 6 strong men to hold him down when he went mad himself and towards the end he was chained to a tree to keep him away from everyone else until he died. -------------------------------- Civil War, CSA, Co.A, 11th Ga Cav.

Photo is of page 7a of the 1900 census for Des Arc, White Co, Ar. This list Hiram English and family. It gives us a good idea of when he moved to Ar since Mammie was born in 1891 in Ga and the twins were born in 1894 in Ar.
