    He was a witness to the will of John Burford on 21 DEC 1807 in Amherst County. On Oct 14, 1797, he bought 30 acres on Fawn Creek from John Crews, adjoining property was Pleasant Dawson.

    tract whereon JC lives - 72 Acres. LINES: Joseph Dawson, Wm. Hughes, Jas.
    Lee, Jno. Burford, Sr., Harrison Hughes. All that grantor owns and part of
    tract of Geo. Carrington, bought by grantor of GC. Also slave, Buster, about
    r0; bed, stock. Wit: Saml. Read, Jno. Brown, Jas. Stuart, Walter Irvine,
    Jas. Lee.

    On 30 DEC 1789 he was shown as surety for the marriage
    of Judith Hughes, daughter of William Hughes.


    The 1810 Census of Amherst Co shows children as follows:
    1 male under 10 (born between 1800-1810)
    1 female under 10 (born between 1800-1810)
    1 female between 10-16 (born between 1794-1800)


    From Amherst Co Deeds:

    "8 Sept. 1815: Harrison HUGHES & wife Nancy, Lynchburg, to Pleasant Dawson, 38
    acres, Harris Creek. Grantee/grantor Wm HUGHES, deceased.

    The 1820 Census of Stokes Co, NC list Harrison Hughes as a resident. This is consistent with the sell of property that occurred on 22 FEB 1822. (see below)



    From "Deeds of Amherst Co; 1807-1827", by Bailey F Davis. page 221

    "125. 22 FEBRUARY 1822. HARRISON HUGHES, Stokes County, North
    Carolina, to WILLIAM PATTEN or PANURE?, Amherst County...
    $100.00; estate now in hands of mother and willed by father to me--
    one half. Witnesses: WILLIAM D. HILL, WILLIAM C. MUSE REUBEN D.
    HILL"

    "1 Mar. 1823: William MUSE, Amherst to Millner COX...all interest in estate
    bought from Harrison Hughes, part of the estate of William Hughes, Sr."

    The 1830 census of Surrey Co, NC shows a Harrison HUGHS, to be
    head of household with one male 60-70 and one female to be 50-60.
    Surrey Co is the county next to Stokes Co, NC.
