      1930 Census shows John A Massey living at 500 S. Sping St, Searcy, Ar
      with his daughter and son-in-law.
    • Note:
      John Anderson Massey came to Ark by wagon train from Ga with all of his
      brothers and sister and the English Family. His daughter, Ilar was 2 years
      old when the move was made. The Massey family moved to Searcy about
      1897 from the original settlement near Joy, Ar, which became known as Georgia

      The 1900 census of White Co, Kentucky Township, Arkansas, Shows John MASSY, wife Margaret,
      son Claud, and daughter Ilar. The birthplace of Margaret's parents show to be Tennessee.

      The 1910 Census of Searcy, White Co, Ar shows J.A. Massey and wife M.T living in a house on Market St
      with son Claude, daughter Ilar Hughes, son-in-law A.V. Hughes, daughter, Lilley Massey.
      Spring St is shown as the address for the next family on the census role.

      The 1920 census shows him to live next door to Arnold and Ilar HUGHES and his occupation
      is "Keeper of Transit Boarders". The dewelling they lived in was a two story boarding house
      that was next to the Train Stop for Searcy. Margaret is shown in this census as his wife.
      She is not shown in the in the 1930 census.

      The 1930 census shows him living with Arnold and Ilar HUGHES. His age is
      shown to be 67 and his occupation is contractor.

      The death date comes from a family story related by Dr. Earl Hughes. He remembers
      John Anderson MASSEY died the same year that the movie "Gone With the Wind"
      came out. The family had bought tickets in advance and was concerned they may
      not get to use them because John Massey was in the hospital.
      The movie premiere was held in Atlanta 13-15 DEC 1939.
