Mrs. McKinnon
Mrs. Mary -- familiary known as, "Aunt Polly" -- McKinnon Died at her home on West Main street Monday evening, aged 79 years. While she had not been well for several days prior to her death, her illness was not consid- ered serious, and her sudden death came as a shock to her friends. She was a good woman and her mission in life having been fulfill- ed conscientiously. 'twas but the will of Almighty God that she be called to rest. But two children, of five survive her; Miss Sadie, of this city, and Mrs. Lewis, of Montezuma, to whom the Gazette extends sympathy. Services were conducted by Rev. I.B. Day, af- ter which the remains were laid to rest in the villiage cemetary at Montezuma, in the presence of a large asemblage of those who were her friends during life.

Montezuma
A village of 150 people. Settled in 1820, in the north-western part of McNairy County, 18 miles from Purdy, the county seat. There are three stores, hotel, steam grist mill, various artisans, shops, a Methodist church and mixed school. Cotton, wheat, corn and dry hides are exported. Mail, semiweekly. J. B. McKinnon, postmaster.
