    Served under Gen. Braddock in French & Indian War,1754-63; and against the British in the Battle of White Plains, NY, 1777; and in the Maryland line of the "German Regiment".

    Revoluionary War record, MD archives, Vol. 18, pp. 263/4. "Roll of Capt. Heyeser's Co. dated 23 Oct 1776". Among the privates listed, appears the name of Jacob Hoover on p.218. "Jacob Hoover, German regiment, discharged 12 Oct 1779".

    In Pa. archives, 5th series, Vol. 3, pp.793-4, "Capt. Williams Hewser's Co, Pvt. Jacob J. Hoover, went to Bedford Co. [Pa] and died there." ref: S.A.R. register p. 405.

    Will written Dec 10, 1800 and probated March 2, 1801

    In his will, from publication of Geneological Society of PA, Volumn 10, pg. 272, dated 12/10/1800, proved 3/2/1801, he mentions grandsons Christian and Andrew, sons of his son Henry and in Henry's will, filed in Muskingum Co. OH, he mentions two sons by a previous marriage-Christian and Andrew.
