    Lucy was a College Graduate and died in 1860 when Mary Adeline was six weeks old. Her parents disowned her when she married. The Stiles family claimed she died in childbirth and Nathan left the older children behind and took the two younger to live with his parents and then went off to fight in the Civil War.
