    Nancy Ann was renamed Anna after her mother died and she went to live in a foster home. She said that the woman she lived with said that Nancy Ann was too fancy for a girl like her. She also overheard a visitor ask the woman how she could take in "a girl like her, they never turn out good." Fighting words for my grandmother.
