Ruth Cook, 93, died on June 25, 2004 at 8:55 a.m. at St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage.
She was born Nov. 21, 1910 in Duenweg, Mo. to Robert Hightower and Nancy Madison (Sallee) Hightower. She was co-owner and operator of the IGA Thriftway, Pittsburg, Kans., for many years.
She married Clyde Cook on March 7, 1929 in Barton County, Mo; he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1981. Two daughters, Jacqueline Miller, and Ginger Brown; five sisters, and one brother also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son in law, Wendell Brown, Carthage; five grandchildren, and six great-grand children.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
