      Alice Ellis, 89, of Charles City, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

      Funeral services for Alice Ellis will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Solomon Odoom will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

      Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service.

      Alice Marie Draeger Ellis was born April 20, 1915, at Rockford, the daughter of Charles and Maude (Holland) Draeger. She graduated from the Rockford High School. On Nov. 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Ansel Ellis at Rockford. They farmed in the Rudd and Floyd areas all of their lives, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's Society. Alice's hobbies included gardening, cooking, playing cards and doing various types of needlework.

      Living family members include two sons and their wives, Rodney and Ruthanne Ellis of Charles City and Bill and Andrea "Toots" Ellis of Harpers Ferry; two daughters, Phyllis Foxen of Charles City and Beverly and her husband Jerome Foxen of Charles City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Helfrecht of Pendleton, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Luella Dodd of Hampton, and Opal Clift of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Leland; a grandson, Chad Foxen; and a brother, Lawrence Draeger.
