He was listed as a farmer in Liberty, Daviess County, Missouri (PO Gallatin). He had real estate valued at $800 and personal assets of $825. He was married with 3 children at home. He was listed on the 1880 census, as a farmer at Union, Daviess County, Missouri. He gave his parents' birthplace as Maryland. There were 5 children at home. At the time of the 1900 census, he was a farmer at Liberty, Daviess County, Missouri. He was paying a mortgage to own his farm. He had been married 39 years by that time. Two children were still at home. He gave his father's birthplace as Maryland, his mother's as Virginia. He was listed again at Liberty in 1910. He was widowed.
