Note: At the age of 3, Mary's name was incorrectly reported on the 1870 census as Alice. She came to Texas with her parents in 1879. She joined the Baptist church in Travis County, Texas in 1883. The family moved in what is now Mills County, Texas, in 1885.
By the time of the 1900 census, Mary had borne 4 children with 3 still living. By the time of the 1910 census, she had borne 7 children with 6 still living.
Mrs. W. E. Reid
Mrs. W. E. Reid, 81 years old, and a resident of the Center City Community since 1885, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. McBeth, in Gatesville Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, at 9:55.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Goldthwaite Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. J. L. Emery, and Rev. Cloud of Brownwood and Rev. Sims of Gatesville. Interment followed in Hurst Ranch Cemetery at Star. Grandsons were pallbearers and granddaughters were flower girls.
Mrs. Reid was born in Monroe County, Tenn., Sept. 16, 1867, and came to Texas with her parents in 1879, the year the State Capitol was being built. She joined the Baptist Church in Travis County in 1883, and moved to the Center City Community in 1885, where she had resided continuously up to a few months before her death, when she went to live with her children. She was married to W. E. Reid on Dec. 14, 1892.

Mrs. Reid Buried
Mrs. Mary Ethel Reid, 81, a resident of Gatesville for the last two years, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. McBeth.
Funeral services were held at the Goldthwaite Baptist Church at 2:00 Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. F. Cloud. Interment was at the Hurst Ranch near Star, with Scott's in charge.
Mrs. Reid is survived by two sons, W. B. Reid of Kermit and S. R. Reid of Killeen; five daughters, Mrs. Hugh Carroll of Lockney, Mrs. Stacy McCasland of Goldthwaite, Mrs. T. M. Atchison of Gatesville, Mrs. F. M. Head of Goldthwaite, and Mrs. J. L. McBeth of Gatesville; 18 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Mary Ethel Bradley Reid
Mary Ethel Bradley Reid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bradley, was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, September 16, 1867. She came to Texas with her parents in 1879, and was converted and joined the Baptist Church in Francis County, Texas in 1883. She lived a consistent member the remainder of her life. She moved to Mills County in 1885. she was married to W. E. Reid December 14, 1892. There were eight children, one having died in infancy, 18 grand children, 10 great grand-children.
Those who survive are: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Reid, Kermit; Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Reid, Sammy and Jerry, Killeen; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Carroll, and James, Lockney; Mr. and Mrs. Stacy McCasland, Denver and Ethylene, Goldthwaite; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Atchison, Gatesville; Mr. and Mrs. Faira Head, Billy and Ronny Wayne, Goldthwaite; Mr. and Mrs. Lawton McBeth, Wayland and Vondell, Gatesville; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carroll, Larry and Linda, Plainview; Mr. and Mrs. Deward Atchison, Barbara, James and Tommy, Lubbock; Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Atchison, Brownwood; Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Atchison, Gatesville; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon McCasland and son, Jal. N. M.; Mr. and Mrs. Elroy McCasland of Star; Mr. and Mrs. James Crane and Mary Jane, Clovis, N.M.; Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Head, and Rose Lee, Denver Colo.
One brother, J. W. Bradley, and family, Brownwood; two sisters, Mrs. Bob Lucas of Winter, and Mrs. W. S. Street of Amarillo. Also other relatives and friends.
The pallbearers were: R. L. Atchison, Lavern Atchison, Deward Atchison, Wayland McBeth, Vernon McCasland, Elroy McCasland, Billy Head, and James Carroll.
Flower girls were: Loyce Atchison, Fay Atchison, Janette Atchison, Vondell McBeth, Virginia McCasland, Ethylene McCasland and Monetta McCasland.
"How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" was sung by Ethel and William B. Huggins by request of the family.
