    Son of George COLLINS of Warren County, Missouri. Came to Warren County in Western Missouri in 1825, from Albermarle County, Virginia. Went to California during the gold rush of '49, crossing the desert with an ox team train and "striking it ric h," had returned home by way of the Isthmus of Panama and New Orleans, where he had exchanged his gold dust for U.S.A. currency. Came to Henry County in 1855, buying several hundred acres of land in the Garland community and there established hi s family.
