    William Ansel Kinney was born on 15 April 1832. He was raised in theCape Cod area. His relatives were associated with the shippingindustry. Records show that he married Carrie Daley from Boston and hadtwo children with her. He was a whaler and landed in Hawaii in 1850. Bythe time he was 35 years old, he was in Hawaii, married toKaiwihoopilipili Kailua from Kauai. He had three children with her. Hethen married Louise Kuliuiki and had one child with her. He then marriedEmalia PIialoha Kailimai in Hanalei, Hawaii, Hawaii and had sevenchildren with her.

    He was a pioneer in the sugar industry with P.C. Jones, assisting inestablishment of several sugar plants on the island of Hawaii. Heretired as manager of Honomu Plantation abut the turn of the century.

    One day in 1915 he came to Ray at the breakfast table and said, "Ray,I've lived a good long life, and now I'm old so I'm going to die now."The old man never ate another bite of food and died shortly thereafter.He was 83 years old. He had three wives and 11 children in Hawaii.
    His last child, Raymond, was born when William was 68 years old.

    *note: Unofficial story has it that one of his wives was related to theHawaiian Monarchy. Also word has it that when the queen was locked up inher palace at the time of the overthrow, that William Kinney was one ofthe men who were responsible for overseeing her incarceration, which wasa problem for the family in accepting him into their family.
