Sarah Allen was the widow of Dr. William D. Allen, by whom she had three children, all born in Missouri: Mary E. b 1858; James B. b 1858 (twin); and Wilson L. b 1859. We quoted a story about Sarah: "Her husband, Dr. Allen, died in Missouri and one day when she and her children were at the table eating, Indians came into her home. They were about to take away one of the children and Sarah had some bolts of bright cloth which she gave to the Indians who took the cloth and left the children. As soon as the Indians were gone, she put the children, in covered wagon and left for Alabama."
