Alta Vogt

ELGIN -- Alta M. Vogt, a resident of Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.

She was born Dec. 11, 1911 in Joppa, the daughter of William and Eva Cook Halstenberg. She had been a resident of Marion for many years before moving to Elgin in 1984. She had been employed by Marion Memorial Hospital for seven years before retiring.

She was a former member of Zion United Church of Christ in Marion.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ina Kodie of Genoa, Carolyn and John Lingle of Normandy, Tenn., and Marie and Chester Studzinski of Elgin; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernie and Reta Vogt of Elgin; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and step sister Lillian Barnett of Karnak.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben in 1968; one brother, Fred Halstenberg; two sisters, Edna Osborne and Evelyn Minner.

Graveside services will be Friday, July 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Congregational Church Cemetery in Boaz. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Anderson Congregational Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Anderson Cemetery Trust Fund in Karnak.
