Old notes indicate he was born 14 Feb 1680 - Scotland? Richmond, VA? But I don't have the source for that.
R. G. English said James was known for his "oratory" - but R. G. had a propensity for fiction!
My first information about his family was from family researacher Karen Chaney who cited MacKenzie-Colonial Families of U.S., Vol. 7 but probably meant Vol. 4.
Family researcher Jean Maire had similar information; her notes: "James came to Delaware before 1700. He had brothers and sister, but are unknown." No sources cited.
