    Mr. Bowles was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Services: Funeral, 4 p.m. Thursday in St. George United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors in McLeod Cemetery. Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

    Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

    Survived by: Son, Timothy Thompson; daughters, Sarah Bethea and Toni Thompson; brothers, James and Fred; sister, Mary Mallory; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
