        Charles Ritenour obit
        Charles Richard Ritenour, 89, of Galt, Calif., formerly of Derry, died Wednesday, May 12, 1993, in Lodi Memorial Hospital, Lodi, Calif. He was born Aug. 25, 1903, in Fairfield Township, a son of the late Joseph and Sarah Barkley Ritenour. He was former Derry Borough chief of police, retiring after 25 years of service. He was a Methodist by faith and a lifelong member of the Derry American Legion Post 324. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Chief of Police Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Wetmore Ritenour; a daughter, Evelyn Ruth; a brother, Earl; and two sisters, Elizabeth McDowell and Sarah Ritenour. Surviving are his wife, Louise Fleming Ritenour; two daughters, Mrs. Elvin (Sarah) McGraw of Boardman, Ohio, and Mrs. David (Anna) Reid of Derry RD; six sons, Joseph C. of New Florence, Richard Glenn of New Derry, Earl Willard of Nevada, George E. of Derry, James A. of Latrobe and Donald C. Ritenour of Derry; five stepchildren; 33 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Owen Ritenour, his grandson, officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township. Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the name of Sean Ream in care of Westin William Penn Hotel, Suite 417, Box 124, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219.
